APT Philippines: Akshay Nasa progresses from Day 1B of ME


Asia-Pacific is on fire! This September is experiencing some its grand tournaments and 2019 APT Philippines II already establishing its mark with some great action. The PHP 10 million GTD Main Event witnessed Day 1B at the Resorts World Manila’s New Grand Wing.

Day 1B of the Main Event kicked-off yesterday attracting 313 players from various regions. Just as the tournament began to heat-up, and the field was narrowed down to 157 progressing to Day 2. This day saw the rise of Michael Kim Falcon bagging 200,200 chips.

The Main Event’s starting flights saw some of the major poker players decorating the event, including the APT Philippines 2019 champion Christopher Mateo and APT Vietnam Main Event 2018 winner Tetsuya Tsuchikawa. But unfortunately, both players missed the mark to progress to Day 2.

Besides, the APT event was surrounded by few prominent players, namely India’s Akshay Nasa who entered the ME Day 1B after recently appearing in WPT Vietnam. He was also witnessed to have finished the APT Philippines 2019 High Roller 1 Single Day in the second position, a few days ago. Nasa managed to bag 36,100 chips advancing to Day 2. He will be joined by his fellow countryman Jaideep Sajwan (81,900).

Some of the other eminent players to progress through Day 1B, include APT Finale Philippines 2018 champion Iori Yogo (27,000), APT Philippines II 2018 Main Event winner Lester Edoc (18,800), APT Philippines 2017 Championships Event winner Huu Dung Nguyen (12,500) and APT Philippines 2017 Main Event champion Mike Takayama (8,500) and many others.

Day 1B Top 10 Chip Counts:

  1. Michael Falcon – 200,200
  2. Xing Yu Ren – 172,000
  3. Taichi Yoneya – 138,800
  4. Ashley Thomas – 137,800
  5. Julien Weymouth – 136,500
  6. Shuichi Ominami – 125,800
  7. Gerard Bringley – 107,300
  8. Dang Mai Anh – 104,900
  9. Robert Go Uy – 100,100
  10. Yoda Zhao Gang – 94,900
