APT Philippines 2022: Kunal Patni, Abhinav Iyer Advance To Day 2 Of Championships Event


The flights to the Championships Event at the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Philippines 2022 is currently underway. The Indian contingent, like every other event, are making their presence felt at this event too. As per the latest update Kunal Patni and Abhinav Iyer are grinding at the event and have progressed to Day 2.

Patni played Day 1A which was held yesterday, and has successfully bagged 175,500 chips to take on to Day 2. Similarly, Iyer has also progressed, however, we are yet to get an update on his stack size.

The Adda52 game ambassador shared the update on his Instagram stories and captioned his picture of the bag of chips saying, “Bagged big in the Championships Event. Let’s make it count this time.” He also tagged Adda52 and APT’s official Instagram handles in his story.

We reached out to Patni, who told us that India’s first solo World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner Iyer is also in the grind. The Indian duo may also be joined by Jasven Saigal who may enter the field via today’s Day 1B flight.

Saigal, yesterday shipped the No Limit Hold’em event at the series, and pocketed Php 5,32,200 (~₹7,41,355) in the process. Other Indians such as Laksh Pal Singh and Amit Kaushik among others are also currently in the Philippines to play the APT season at The Grand Wing Casino located in Newport World Resorts, Manila, Philippines. 

The Championships event features a buy-in of PHP 82,500 (₹1,14,890), for a guaranteed prize pool of PHP 10 Million. After two starting flights, all the survivors will assemble for Day 2 of the event which will be held tomorrow, i.e 16th September 2022, wherein the registrations will remain open for the initial two levels. Those who survive Day 2 will make their way to Day 3 on 17th September 2022, where the play will continue till the top eight final table contenders. The final table will then take place on 18th September 2022.
