APT Kickoff Vietnam 2018 Starts This Week

The Asian Poker Tour (APT) is a major poker tour that attracts players from the Asia-Pacific region and this season’s first stop is almost upon us. Just last month, APT announced a revamped schedule for their 2018 season; you can read about all the changes made and get the full schedule here.

This year will mark the first time that APT is hosting their opening event outside the Philippines – Vietnam. The APT Kickoff Vietnam will take place between 19th and 28th January 2018 and we’re expecting quite a few top Asian poker players to be a part of the action at this opening stop.

Japan’s Tetsuya Tsuchikawa is one of the confirmed players that will be at the tables in Vietnam. He had a great year in 2017, winning 7 APT titles and winning the APT Player of the Year award. His Japanese countrymen who finished 2nd and 3rd in the POY race will also be at Vietnam but there will no longer be a POY award in the APT, as confirmed last month.

The limelight will also be on England’s pro Samad Razavi. Razavi is a 4 time back-to-back APT Player of the Year winner who hasn’t been very active in the APT circuit over the last year due to business commitments. However, the man who has 28 APT titles will be making a much awaited comeback during this series.

The tournament series will take place at the Pro Poker Club in Ho Chi Minh and the highlight will be the VND 3,000,000,000 (~INR 85 lakhs) Guaranteed Main Event which has a buy-in of VND 16,500,000. Along with the Main Event, there will be a total of 18 other side events and you can get the entire schedule of the APT Kickoff Vietnam here.
