APL Main Event: Sapra, Lakhotia and Vikas progress to Day 2


Before the year ends, the Asia Poker League (APL) already made into books, playing its final event this year at Risemount Premier Resort Da Nang in Vietnam. The series rejoiced 6 successful days since 12 December and lined up to host 16 events until 21 December. However, catching the public eye is the Main Event VND 8 billion GTD.

Three days into the Main Event that wrapped up Day 1D yesterday. The four starting flights registered a total number of 525 players. The promised guarantee was shattered to create a prize pool of VND 10 billion and reserving VND 2 billion for the champion of APL ME 2019!

Growing significantly in recent times, undoubtedly, the tour has gained much prominence. Lately, Indian participation can be seen worldwide and for the citizens, Vietnam has been quite a preferable destination. In the Main Event, amongst the top 10 players were Indian duo Manish Lakhotia with 275,000 chips, APL Ambassador Sumit Sapra amassing 231,500 chips on Day 1A. Another Indian participant to enter the final of the two flights was Sahni Vikas bagging 48,500 chips.

The overall chip leader to resume Day 2 will be China’s Lin Jian (picture below) with an impressive 484,500 from Day 1B followed by the native player Phan Dinh Nam with 359,500 chips and in the third-place rests Nguyen Minh Tuan with 352,000 chips.

  2. Phan Dinh Nam – 359,500
  3. Nguyen Minh Tuan – 352,000
  4. Dao Minh Phu – 333,500
  5. Ly Tran Tien – 333,000
  6. Manish Lakhotia – 275,000
  7. Song Byuunghwa – 267,000
  8. Melvin Tay Yao Loon – 266,500
  9. Tran Anh Trung – Vietnam
  10. Woo Sung Kang – 252,000

A total of 133 survivors will resume on Day 2 which is scheduled to commence today, 17 December at 1 pm local time. However, the top 66 players will finish in the money and a lion’s share from VND 10 billion will belong to the eventual champion!
