Antonio Saez Zamorano wins Golden Poker Million Cyprus

The Golden Poker Million Cyprus series at Noah’s Ark Deluxe Hotel and Spa located at Bafra, Cyprus concluded the Main Event €1 Million GTD crowning Andorra’s Antonio Saez Zamorano the ultimate champion after a heads-up deal with Spain’s David Comeron where both players walked away with €164,000 (~INR 1.30 Crores).

With six starting flights the entire tournament attracted a total of 1,178 players, however, only 120 could survive Day 2 and the top finishers were assured a min-cash of €1,650. The field further whittled down to 50 players on Day 3 and formed the final 9 to battle at the showdown.

With $14,152 as his previous total live earnings, Zamorano stepped onto the live circuit earlier this year. With just 7 live tournament cashes so far, both players Zamorano along with Comeron earned their respective career-best scores and have both considerably strengthened their bankrolls.

Zamorano entered the final day with the chip lead bagging a hefty 29,875,000 chips followed by Switzerland’s Samiyel Duzgun. The table was packed with players representing 8 different nations and eventually, Shlomi Shimoni’s Kings and Vladyslav Pohribnyi’s pocket Jacks couldn’t stand against Comeron’s pocket Aces, railing them at 9th and 8th place respectively.

Over 3 hours into the tournament, Comeron found another target Duzgun, once again, with his pocket Aces over the latter’s pocket Eights pushing him in 7th position. After hours of grinding, the competition came down to the final two. Zamorano entered with a shorter stack of 55 million against Comeron’s 63 million chips. He was quickly able to shoot up his chip stack and once again take the lead. The duo halted to settle for a deal with each player pocketing an equal amount. Zamorano having the lead was crowned as the official winner and lifted the trophy!
