Poker enthusiasts may be witnessing withdrawal symptoms now that the 2018 World Series of Poker has come to an end at Las Vegas. However, there are other tournaments taking place around the world, that may not be as prestigious as the WSOP, but are still good money makers for the players.
One such tournament series was hosted by the Card Player Poker Tour (CPPT) at The Venetian in Las Vegas. The CPPT Main Event kicked off last week and it saw a participation of 547 entries, with a prize pool of over $2.5 million being created and Anthony Zinno topping the field.
Zinno is a 37-year old American poker pro who has been around for quite a while now. He took home a prize of $466,670 for first place after a heads-up deal with Ben Jones, and he took his career live poker earnings past the $8 million mark. He also had 12 cashes in the recent 2018 WSOP.
“I’ve been looking for a good excuse to take a break. I’ve been grinding, almost nonstop, for the past few months. I had just one night off the entire WSOP. I was on a mission to get another win. So, this feels like a good opportunity to take a nice, long vacation. I pulled out a win, and now I can reward myself and focus on things I’ve been neglecting while I’ve been concentrating on poker,” said Zinno after the win.
Final table results:
Also part of the final table was Stephen Chidwick (4th) and former WSOP World Champion Martin Jacobson (9th).
