Anant Purohit takes down Goa DPT Xpress Main Event

Currently, the third edition of Deltin Poker Tournament Xpress (DPTX) is taking place in Goa, on board Deltin Jaqk. However, with the first couple of editions taking place in Sikkim, this was the Goa debut for DPTX and since this is a more convenient location, bigger fields were expected.

We weren’t disappointed as the participation was way higher than the first couple of editions and the first tournament to conclude was the Burn N Turn Event, taken down by Casinokart’s Aditya Sardana. This time too, a DPTX record was set as the Main Event saw a participation of 205 entries!

While the series is a low buy-in one, the competition was stiff and the winner turned out to be Anant Purohit, who bagged not only his first DPTX title but also the first live poker title of his career. While he often earns big scores in the online circuit, he bagged INR 7,40,000 in prize money here, becoming the largest of his career so far.

The last few months has been good for Purohit in live poker as he also finished runner-up in the MegaStack tournament at the 2018 WPT India series. Here, he eliminated five players on the FT before he was crowned champion, including Kshitij Jain who became the eventual runner-up.

The tournament was a 2-day affair and Day 2 resumed with only 27 players still in contention. While most of the players in this field are those with smaller bankrolls, there are some who came to Goa to prepare for the WSOP, like Siddharth Karia, who ended up finishing 3rd here, also becoming one of Purohit’s victims.

Final Table Results:

  1. Anant Purohit – INR 7,40,000
  2. Kshitij Jain – INR 5,15,000
  3. Siddharth Karia – INR 3,10,000
  4. Amit Tejura – INR 1,85,000
  5. Anish Juwarkar – INR 1,45,000
  6. Venkata Phani Anne – INR 1,20,000
  7. Ashit Sharma – INR 85,000
  8. Mitang Soni – INR 75,000

While we have attached the prizes as per what the organizers decided, it is believed that there was a 3-way deal on the Final Table, and we aren’t sure of the exact figures each player took away.
