Akshay Nasa Wins Monster Stack at Poker Dream 17 Malaysia


Indian poker player Akshay Nasa has made the Indian poker community proud with his exploits at the poker table.  He has shipped Event #53 of Poker Dream 17, taking home the main prize of MYR 104,800 ($23,735) (~₹20 Lakh). The achievement is doubly remarkable as he is the only Indian in the Final Table. The total prize money was MYR 115,453.

There were other Indians in the ITM list, including Jatin Sablani at #11, who took home MYR 8.900 ($2015), and Ankit Jain, who ranked #13th and took home MYR 7,900 ($1,790)

Nasa has been moving strength to strength in the Indian poker community, and is currently ranked 20th on the All- Time India Money list. He has earned over $500,000 in his lifetime in poker. His highest cash payout to date is $90,133. He earned this after ranking 2nd in the 2023 APT Main Event of the Asian Poker Tour – APT Summer Series Hanoi, Vietnam, held in Hanoi.

Poker Dream 17 Malaysia took place from 10th to 21st April at Resorts World Genting Highlands, and the Main Event of the series had a considerable Guaranteed Tournament Dollars (GTD) of MYR 5,000,000. Earlier, Siddharth Jolly snagged the 2nd rank of the Final Table of Mystery Big Bounty of Poker Dream 17. Brand Poker Dream began in 2022 in Malaysia and has since expanded to other regions, including Vietnam, South Korea, the Philippines, and Taiwan.

It has since become one of the biggest tournament series for the Asian and global poker community. Poker Dream 16 took place in Jeju, South Korea, in 2025, with dates from 15th to 24th February. The total GTD was $1,500,000. Jin Xudong of China won the Main Event and took home MYR 19.390,000.
