Akshay Nasa and Jasven Saigal in APPT National Day 3

The top Asian poker pros are currently in Manila to be a part of the Asia-Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) where plenty of cash prizes are up for grabs, including a PHP 40 million (~INR 5.18 crore) series guarantee, which was beaten yesterday itself. Along with these cash prizes, 5 Platinum Passes are also waiting to be won, worth $30,000 each.

One of the highlight tournaments of this series was the APPT National, where a record-breaking field of 829 entries saw the advertised prize pool being quadrupled and a total of 230 survivors made it to Day 2 of this event, of which 18 were Indian players, as we reported yesterday.

It was another intense day of play in Manila and at the end of Day 2, 34 players have bagged up their chips to return on Day 3. Of these, 2 Indian players in Akshay Nasa and Jasven Saigal have very good chances of going all the way and winning the APPT National title, both currently in the top 10 chip stacks. It was less than 2 weeks ago that Saigal won the DPT 15k Deep Dive Event in Goa.

During the course of play on Day 2, 16 Indians busted their stacks. Some of them walked away empty handed, while some managed to reach the pay-outs, with 99 players being paid out a minimum of PHP 61,000 (~INR 78,900). Here is a list of Indians who made it in the money:

  • 43rd – Vidwath Shetty – PHP 87,000
  • 49th – Amanpreet Singh – PHP 78,000
  • 52nd – Abhinav Iyer – PHP 78,000
  • 71st – Zarvan Tumboli – PHP 69,000
  • 73rd – Alok Birewar – PHP 65,000

When the final 34 come out to play on Day 3, the pay-outs will resume from PHP 96,000, but everyone will be having their eyes on the mega top prize of PHP 4,559,000 (~INR 58.99 lakh) to go with a $30k PSPC Platinum Pass. The current chip leader is local boy Redentor Edoc, who has 1,680,000 in chips, while India’s Akshay Nasa isn’t too far behind, with 1,423,000 in chips.

Top 10 current chip counts:
