WPT Prime Cambodia 2023: Deepankur Gupta, Shardul Parthasarathi And Mahesh Shyamsundar Nail Titles

The Indian contingent continues to shine at the World Poker Tour (WPT) Prime Cambodia 2023 at Phnom Pehn, Cambodia. Online reg Deepankur Gupta managed to grab his first-ever live poker title by taking down a title. Meanwhile, Shardul Parthasarthi also claimed his second WPT title. Mahesh Shyamsundar also bagged a title on the last day of the series. 

Gupta took down the NLH Turbo event for $8,000 after beating his buddy Anmol Mehta in the heads-up. Mehta took the second spot for $6,895. India’s Dhaval Mudgal also made it to the final table of this event and finished fourth for $2,139.

Parthasarathi shipped the Superstack Classic Freezeout event after striking a heads-up deal with Japan’s Yu Ogusu for $19,247. Other Indians like Harsh Bubna (3rd, $8,093), Vineet Kumar (7th, $2,750), Arun Sriram (14th, $1,611), and Abhijith Cheruku (16th, $1,375) also made it in the money at this event. Parthasarathi clinched his first WPT title last year by taking down the Super High Roller (SHR) event at WPT Prime Cambodia 2022. This victory also marks his second live title of the year after his Single Day High Roller win at APT Hanoi 2023 last month.

Mahesh Shyamsundar wins a 1K Re-Entry event after a deal with China’s Chao-Ting Cheng. Shyamsundar pocketed $19,110 for his top-place finish. Shyamsundar had shipped the India Poker Championship (IPC) Megastacks May 2022 Kick-Off event held in Jhapa, Nepal in May last year. 

Akshay Kapoor shared Gupta’s achievement on his Instagram stories, while Gaurav Sood shared Parthasarathi’s win on his stories. 

These mark the second and third WPT Prime Cambodia 2023 titles for India. Earlier, Alok Birewar had shipped the Deepstack NLH Freezeout event.
