Raj Kundra launches poker website ‘Poker Raj’

Raj Kundra created the Match Indian Poker League (MIPL) that has now successfully completed two seasons and the Online Team Poker League (OTPL) soon followed. Both the offerings have been successful ventures for the industrialist and so, along with his wife Shilpa Shetty is set to launch a new poker website and mobile app called ‘Poker Raj’ on Sunday.

As part of the launch, the website will host  multiple freeroll tournaments from 16th-30th September, which will have a total prize pool of INR 10 lakh. The online poker site, www.pokerraj.com, will be launched under the banner of the licensing, entertainment & gaming company Viaan Industries Ltd., which had previously launched www.gameofdot.com and www.chasebid.com.

The platform’s technology and software is provided by Pune-based Salus Technologies. To distinguish its brand from others, Viaan Industries will do so by providing customised features and superior customer service. Poker Raj will offer instant cash outs up to INR 9,999, along with exciting cash games, tourneys and free play money games. The interface and software will be convenient, user-friendly and easy-to-use and also provide a number of new features to Indian poker lovers.

Raj Kundra commented on the decision of launching the mobile app, he said, “After launching Match Indian Poker League, we realised that one annual event is not enough for the millions of poker players we have in India. Launching an online site will help us attract more players to the league. It is completely legal, and we are compliant with the laws of the land. The biggest challenge is to convince the player that his money and information is safe. That’s where we add value. Our focus is on customer service.”

To this he added, “We have been focussing on all variants of real money gaming in India that fall under the game of skill. We launched India’s first official poker league. We’ve also curated a new team of passionate poker lovers and Poker Raj is something we’ve been developing over the years and are now finally ready to launch one of the best poker experiences India has ever seen. We have completed the loop of poker offerings and will now focus on taking a sizeable market share of this booming industry with one focus in mind – the player!”
