Romoid wins Spartan’s Daredevil for INR 1,91,000

Who Dares Wins as that famous TV show goes and yesterday’s featured tournament at The Spartan Poker was about just that. The player who was able to claim the title of DareDevil last night was ‘Romoid’ who outlasted the field and won first place prize of INR 1,91,000.

The DareDevil is a tournament which takes place on Saturday evenings at Spartan and features a buy-in of INR 4,400. While this tournament allows busted players to re-enter for a short period of time, there is a twist to it. And a good one for players it is, as they are allowed to buy-back in for 50% of the original buy-in and of course there is no rake on any rebuys made. So of course there is a lot of value for those participating players and 95 of them came together to play this tournament. After late registration was done, the final prizepool swelled up to INR 7,28,000 going easily past the original guarantee of INR 6 Lakhs in this event.

From 95 , it came down to three-way action between Romoid and his opponents in ‘MansaMusa’ and ‘nucky888’ and this hand happened which really put Romoid into a commanding chip lead. With blinds at 8,000/16,000 ante 1,600 in Level 34, nucky888 decides to make a stand with 5d Qh and puts his stack of 600k on the line. MansaMusa gets out of the way and Romoid quickly makes the call with his holdings Ah Jc. No love for nucky888 on the board of 8s Ks 8h 3s 8d which gives both players a set of Eights but Romoid’s Ace is in play giving him that big pot and knocking nucky888 out in 3rd place for INR 88,452.

There were a few more hands which went back and forth between the two remaining players but Romoid had just too much of a dominating lead and it was left to MansaMusa to attempt a comeback which he tried with Qh 8h in the same blind level. While Romoid had a lesser hand in Js Ts, he made the call anyway with his connectors and also the fact that he had 1.9 million chips before the hand started as compared to MansaMusa’s 64k, made the decision a no-brainer. Fortune favoured the chip leader as the board As 3h 5d 4d Tc gave him a pair on the river and the title of DareDevil. MansaMusa was the lowest stack when 3-way was on so he can feel a little better finishing a spot higher than expected and his eventual payday of INR 1,33,952.
