4 Indians through to Day 2 of Double Stack Event

Gutshot has been continuously following the progress of Indian players at the ongoing 2018 World Series of Poker, and after a couple of days of not much of Indian action, four Indians are back in the limelight, having made Day 2 of Event #34: $1,000 Double Stack NLHE.

The event saw two days of starting flights and a total of 5,700 entries were recorded, creating a prize pool good enough to reserve a massive $644,224 for the first-place finisher. Progressing to Day 2 of this event was India’s Nishant SharmaAkash MalikNikita LutherPaawan Bansal and the Indian-origin American, Nipun Java.

Bansal has already been making headlines at the WSOP this year, finishing 13th in the Colossus Event for $35,087 a couple of weeks back. Luther is one of India’s best women pros, Malik has a lot of years of experience playing at the WSOP, Sharma is a newbie but has been doing well in the last year or so, while Java is one the lookout for his third WSOP bracelet.

With 855 players being paid out in this event, the pay-outs have already begun and we’re hoping one of our Indian players can cash out big at this Double Stack Event. However, it’s not going to be easy as some of the best pros from around the world are among the mix.

Day 1a top chip counts:

  1. Brian Yoon – 233,600
  2. Phuoc Nguyen – 165,000
  3. Mike Del Vecchio – 161,700
  4. Darrin Oremba – 159,000
  5. Thomas Zanot – 158,200

Day 1b top chip counts:

  1. Mike Takayama – 177,400
  2. Eimantas Adomavicius – 168,500
  3. Vinny Pahuja – 167,100
  4. Fabrizzo Dagostino – 164,200
