4 Indians progress from Day 2AB of WSOP 2019 Main Event


Registration to the Main Event of the 2019 World Series of Poker (WSOP) was to be kept open for a while on Day 2, after already having 8,000+ registrations across the three starting flights. The exact number of entries on Day 2AB wasn’t confirmed but the field crossed 8,200 entries, making it the second largest WSOP Main Event ever, second to only the 2006 Main Event.

3,248 players plus those who signed up today took to the felts, including 11 Indian players. As the name of the day suggests, Day 2AB was for all those who progressed from the first two starting flights of the Main Event. It was some electrifying poker took place across the 5 scheduled levels of play and when we were done, only 1,087 runners bagged chips to return on Day 3.

Among them were 4 of the original 11 Indians, including Yudhishter Jaswal (346,600), Siddharth Karia (294,800), Ankit Ahuja (275,200) and Adda52 Pro Kunal Patni (102,600). Timothy Su (791,000) ended as the chip leader on the day and he goes into Day 3 with a massive advantage.

Apart from the 4 Indians to progress, the few who hit the rail included Vikram Kumar early on, and Jasven Saigal, Minissha Lamba, Abhinav Iyer, Satchit Kapur, and Rohan Dhawan later. Among the top stacks were bracelet winners Galen Hall, Anthony Spinella and former Main Event champion Qui Nguyen, who won this prestigious poker event in 2016.

  3. Anton Morgenstern – 735,000
  4. Florian Duta – 731,500
  5. Galen Hall – 705,900
  6. Gerry Claunch – 699,600

  8. Bryan Buonocore – 668,800
  9. Anthony Spinella – 643,700
  10. Brian Yoon – 643,400
