11 arrested in gambling party raid in Mewat, Haryana

In the region of Haryana and Rajasthan, Mewat is a place well-known for its history. But the village is fast turning into becoming the Vegas of Haryana. What flashed on our screens recently was, the police arrested 11 individuals, seizing about 1 Lakh in cash.

This report was from the Shikarkawa Village in Punhana block. According to Rattan Lal, a Pinangwan Station House Office, who said that they got a tip-off about the party was going to be hosted in the village and therefore this was the chance for them to take the step further and raid the location. Over 12 individuals attacked and fired at the police who were raiding and quickly managed to escape the spot.

These individuals who were taking part in the illegal activity immediately noticed the police and pulled out their guns and fired at the cops. Thereafter, more than 12 managed to flee and 11 who were caught were the residents of Rajasthan.

One of the police officials said that the village keep hosting weekly gambling parties like this. And the ones who arrange for liquor are often paid. Young boys are also trained to take part in such activities. “The village is notorious for hosting weekly gambling parties. Every week, residents take turns in hosting these. The host gets a share of the win at the table. If they arrange liquor, they are paid for it. The village and a few other villages are fast emerging as gambling dens. Young boys are being trained to gamble and take care of hosting these parties.”

Haryana has several such cases, one that came under the spotlight last year was when the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of Haryana Police arrested 14 people under Gambling Act and recovered 13,75 Lakhs as stake money from them. The racket was busted at a resort near Moriwala area in district Sirsa. Police, after receiving a tip-off about the such activities, conducted a raid at OHM Resort and nabbed 14 persons involved from two locations. INR 801,500 were recovered from a group of 8 people and other 6 people were arrested with INR 573,500.

However, after the latest case, the police has identified key gambling dens and planned to conduct raids in the coming days. For the latest news and updates on the gaming or poker industry, keep reading GutshotMagazine.com and stay tuned!
