Every card used in Gin Rummy holds a certain value, with Aces equal to 1 and face cards worth 10, with 2s assigned two points, 3s being three points, and so on. The main goal of this game is to earn 100 points.

The main objective is to form groups (melds), with the participants aiming to score 100 points. Players can win Gin Rummy by either forming the melds or by creating sets/sequences. Players can use all these combinations to win in Gin Rummy, from creating combinations of all sets, all runs, or some sets and some runs.

How to play Gin Rummy Online

Gin Rummy starts after every player is dealt 10 cards. After the cards are dealt, the remaining deck cards become part of the stockpile, where one random card is removed and placed face-up to get the game going. 

Players need to form a certain combination or a set/melds from the cards in their hand, while the unmatched ones are called deadwood. The basic game strategy requires players to form melds and eliminate deadwood cards. In an ideal scenario, one should have as little deadwood as possible.

Players can use the face-up card or pass during the first turn, giving the other player the chance to either pick it up or pass. If both players decide to pass, then the second player can draw a card from the stockpile to continue his round.

Similarly, a big Gin is achieved if all 11 cards become a part of any sets/sequences, with the players awarded 50 bonus points for achieving the same. If no player has managed to gain the gin until there are two cards left in the stockpile, then the game is declared to be a tie.
