What Is Impact Player Rule In IPL 2023: According to the reports, the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League 2023 will be played in April 2023. Ten teams will participate in the grand event to win the beautiful trophy of IPL 2023. The T20 format is growing daily, and because of its popularity, every cricketing board tries to make it more interesting. 

BCCI in the current edition of IPL 2023, is looking forward to coming up with the Impact Player policy that will help each franchise to pick a fielder for their substitute strategy. The Impact Player rule was introduced in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and there is a high chance that BCCI would use it too in the IPL 2023.

What is Impact Player Rule? 

The impact player rule helps the team strategically, where the squad can pick a fielder of their choice till the 14th over of the game. At the time of the toss, the captain would have to announce four substitute players along with his playing XI. One player among four substitutes can be used as an Impact player. 

Impact Player Rule In Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

The ‘Impact Player’ was first used in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy domestic cricket tournament. The Delhi team used this rule in the first match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where the squad replaced The Hiten Dalal with Hrithik Shokeen.

Following the IPL 2023 mini-auctions, the BCCI will host the IPL 2022 Auction on December 23, 2022. The auction will take place in Kochi, Bengaluru. 650 cricketers will be auctioned off. A total of 650 players will be auctioned off, with each IPL team limited to 25 players. Each team must select players following BCCI guidelines, which state that each franchise should have eight overseas players in each squad.

991 players registered in the mini-auction to be held for IPL 2023. This includes 714 Indian players and 277 foreign players. Most of these foreign players will consist of 57 players from Australia. Apart from this, South Africa will have a total of 52 players. At the same time, a total of 185 capped players and 786 uncapped players will participate in these players.
