TN Governor TROLLED Mercilessly For Stalling Decision On Online Gaming Ban

Politicians and government authorities getting trolled on Twitter isn’t a rare sight. This phenomenon was once again witnessed when Twitterati went after Tamil Nadu governor RN Ravi. Thinking about what went wrong? Let us give you all the details about TN governor getting trolled with a hashtag #GetOutRavi on the micro-blogging site. On 19th October, the state Assembly passed the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Online Gambling and Regulation of Online Games Bill, 2022 to replace an ordinance which was issued on 1st October.

For the Bill to come into play, the TN governor had to give his nod. Hell broke loose when the ordinance expired on Sunday, 27th Nov 2022 and that rage did not die down. The reason for uproar was that Ravi stalled the entire process of establishing the Bill by delaying his approval and showing not urgency towards the pressing issue of people committing suicide after losing money in online gambling.

Twitterati did not spare a second to call out Ravi who’s an ex-IPS officer from the 1976 batch. Kanimozhi, DMK deputy general secretary has reportedly sought reasons for the state governor not giving his approval after seeing the tense situation in the state. The state government has for the second time now tried to get a legislation in place which bans online gaming. But without the approval of the state governor, the fate of this Bill hangs in balance. As per the latest update on the TN governor, a writ of quo warranto is filed against RN Ravi by Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam party (TPDK) with the Madras High court. The plea has been filed for the reason of holding ‘office of profit’ as the chairperson of Auroville Foundation.
