World Women’s Chess Championship: India and Kazakhstan play the first match of the quarter-final draw: India played out a 2-2 draw in the first quarter-final match of the FIDE World Women’s Team Chess Championship against Kazakhstan on Thursday.
India’s number one D Harika drew with Jhansaya Abdumalik on the top board while R Vaishali drew against Dinara Sadukasova on the second board.
Bhakti Kulkarni lost to Merurat Kamlidenova on the third board but Mary Ann Gomes levelled the score by defeating Gulmira Daulatova on the fourth board in 85 moves.
In other quarterfinal matches, Russia beat the United States 4-0, Armenia 3-1, Ukraine 3-1 and Georgia beat Azerbaijan 3.5-0.5 in the first match.
