With Gambhir As Mentor, Which Players Will Lucknow Pick: Lucknow franchise will set to debut in this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) edition. As we all know, the owner Sanjeev Goenka was part of the 2016 & 2017 edition of IPL with Rising Pune Supergiant. The unit was only part of the IPL for two years. 

BCCI had already notified in 2021 that two unique franchises would be part of the IPL in the 15th edition, and Sanjeev Goenka has owned one of the franchises, Lucknow Super Giant. They have also made some critical statements thus far, with Former Zimbabwe player Andy Flower and former Indian player Gautam Gambhir as their head coach and mentor.

Gautam Gambhir previously played for Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals as a captain during his IPL stint. This article will note down which five players Lucknow would like to target for this edition.

Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav, playing underneath the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir, came into the spotlight while playing for Kolkata Knight Rider. He earned his debut for KKR in 2016 under Gautam Gambhir’s captaincy. Kuldeep gathered 18 wickets in 15 games while playing under Gautam Gambhir. Kuldeep was born in Uttar Pradesh, so he will be keen to play for his home franchise.

Chris Lynn

Australian player Chris Lynn is another performer who came into the spotlight while playing Gautam Gambhir’s captaincy for Kolkata Knight Riders. Lynn played just one game in two seasons for Mumbai Indians. Gambhir might look to fetch him for Lucknow.

Shakib Al Hasan 

Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was a match-winner for the Kolkata Knight Riders when Gautam Gambhir guided the franchise. Shakib can count a lot of credit to any playing XI in any form of cricket. Lucknow could aid by marking Shakib at the mega auction.

Manish Pandey

Another player who played a tremendous role in the Gautam Gambhir-led Kolkata Knight Riders triumph was Manish Pandey. The right-handed batter slashed a match-winning fifty for the Knight Riders in the IPL 2014 Final. Sunrisers Hyderabad did not utilize him appropriately during the previous few seasons. Pandey could resurrect his IPL career by entering Lucknow in 2022.

Ishan Kishan will be one of the players on the list for the Lucknow franchise. We all have witnessed Ishan’s performance while playing for Mumbai Indians. A dasher with the bat in top order will also help the team by doing wicket keeping. This will allow KL Rahul to move around the field and help interact with bowlers.

Many other players have high chances of getting picked by Lucknow Super Giants in the new edition of IPL. This can be understood as many world-class players out there can be lethal and shine in the current edition of IPL 2022.
