Why did Virat Kohli Thank Hong Kong Cricketers? Check out

Virat Kohli has been one of the most inspirational cricketers for players all across the world with the 33-year-old known for setting huge standards for himself. He has been extremely consistent with the bat during his golden years despite a recent blip in form since 2019. However, apart from his recent struggles with the bat, Virat Kohli is a player that still holds a lot of value which can be seen by the backing he gets at the international level.

An extended run at the biggest stage seems to have finally paid off for Kohli who was India’s top scorer in the first game of the 6-nation tournament when the Men in Blue squared off against Pakistan. Later, the 33-year-old went on to register an unbeaten fifty against Hong Kong at Asia Cup 2022 and show his touch of class with great style. The former Indian skippers looked more confident with the bat as he scored quick singles off good deliveries while putting the bad ones away.

Virat Kohli registered an unbeaten 59 off 44 balls against Hong Kong which included one four and three sixes. His partnership alongside Suryakumar Yadav helped India post a big total as Rohit Sharma’s side won the super four stages of the tournament with a 40-run win on Wednesday.

After India’s comfortable win, Hong Kong cricketers made a noble gesture for Virat Kohli. It saw the 33-year-old take to Instagram and post an image of a signed jersey that he received from Hong Kong cricket. The former India skipper was left humbled by the gesture from the associate nation as they presented wicketkeeper Scott Mckechnie’s jersey with a sweet message on the back of it. Virat Kohli captioned his Instagram story with the caption, “Thank you @hk cricket this gesture is very humbling and very very sweet.”

The jersey saw Hong Kong cricketers paying gratitude to Kohli for inspiring a generation of players while giving him supporting and hoping to see the 33 year old have many ‘incredible days ahead’. the caption on the signed jersey read as,  “Virat, thank you for inspiring a generation. We stand with you! There are many incredible days ahead. With Strength. With Hong Kong. Team Hong Kong.”

India became the second team after Afghanistan to lock their places in the Super 4 of Asia Cup 2022. While the Men in Blue registered consecutive victories over Pakistan and Hong Kong, Afghanistan recorded wins against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
