The wicketkeeper walked in on to bat when India was in a spot of bother with Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma back to the hut. The visitors had managed to record just 21 runs whilst losing two wickets in the powerplay. Virat Kohli soon followed the openers with the Men in Blue struggling at 38-3. Suryakumar Yadav managed to stabilize the innings but fell victim to Craig Overton in the 17th over too.

Rishabh Pant finally found a partner in Hardik Pandya as the duo stitched a 133-run stand that pushed India into a winning position. The 24-year-old went on to score his maiden ODI century in the process as the Men in Blue won the one-day international series 2-1.
The Indian wicket keeper scored his second century of the tour, with the first one coming in the one-off Test at Edgbaston. His innings helped India chase down the target of 261-run with great ease, after the initial hiccup. Pant was also declared the player of the match for the third ODI over Pandya’s all-round performance.
Speaking with the media after the game, the Delhi Capitals star shared the importance of his innings. He said, “Hopefully I will remember my first ODI century for the rest of my life. But when I was in there, I was just focusing on one ball at a time. (Coming in at 25 for 2) When a team is under pressure and you bat like that, that’s what you aspire to do.
The wicket keeper added, “I always enjoy playing in England, at the same time enjoy the atmosphere and the situation. The more you play the more experience you gain. Nothing to take away from the bowlers, it was a good wicket to bat on and the bowlers did a commendable job to restrict them, they were brilliant not only today but for the entire series.”
Following the England tour, the wicket keeper batter will feature for India once again in their upcoming tour to the Caribbean. Rishabh Pant is all set to play against the West Indies in 5 T20Is after being rested for the ODI leg of the tour.
