He signed with the club on 14th August 2021 and went on to make his debut for the team on 29th August 2021 against Wolverhampton Wanderers. The defender made 95 appearances for the club in all competitions before leaving to join Como ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Raphael Varane joined Serie A side Como on 28th July 2024 on a two-year deal. His stay at the club, however, ended much before this two-year period. Just two months into the season, he picked up another injury and decided to retire. While initially excited to continue his footballing career in the Serie A, the French defender picked up another injury just months into his career with Como. The end of Varane’s career was littered with injuries, and this one crossed the limit for the defender, he decided that he could not carry on like this and announced his retirement from the beautiful game.
