NZ vs IND Tour: WTF Moments You May Have Missed!

The Indian cricket team’s white-ball tour to New Zealand ended on a sad note, with the final ODI ending in ‘ No Result’ due to rain. While the hosts emerged victorious in the ODI series after winning the first one-day game, It was the Men in Blue who emerged victorious in the T20I series.

Both teams registered a bilateral series against each other by a 1-0 while rain affected the other matches. Missed the NZ vs IND tour, you need not worry as we bring you all the missed action and also look at the takeaways from this white ball series against the Kiwis

NZ vs IND : Key Points from the tour

Mohammed Siraj’s resurgence as a T20 bowler

Mohammed Siraj showcased how lethal he can be in the shortest format of the game. The young bowler delivered fiery bowling skills, picking up six wickets while maintaining an economy rate of 5.13 RPO. Earlier known as a speedster who leaks runs in T20 cricket, Siraj has bounced back and come out with excellent performances during NZ vs IND T20I matches.

He and Arshdeep Singh did not make India feel the absence of star players like Jasprit Bumrah and Mohd Shami in the T20I matches. Siraj is building a strong case for himself to be a regular feature in all formats for the Indian team with such performances.

Sanju Samson’s absence

Sanju Samson’s absence from India’s playing XI was continuously pointed out by the fans during the NZ vs IND T20 series. Many supporters of the Men in Blue highlighted why the Kerala-based batter was not in the Indian cricket team’s playing. While Rishabh Pant constantly failed, the young wicketkeeper batter kept on getting chances while Sanju Samson warmed the bench during the NZ vs IND series.

Having a player like Samson and giving him a few games would have proved to be quite beneficial for the squad and the team. It was quite unfair of BCCI not to provide Samson with a few opportunities, especially with the team looking for an overhaul soon.

Shreyas Iyer’s stability in the middle

Speaking about the NZ vs IND ODI matches, Iyer proved why he is one of the best Indian players in the One Day format. The middle-order batter played various styles of innings for the team, adjusting his batting based on the conditions and playing for the team’s cause.

From scoring a quickfire 46-run partnership with Washington Sundar to building a mammoth 94-run stand with Sanju Samson, Iyer did it all for the man in Blue in the ODI matches. He also played out a lion-hearted innings while the team was in trouble and scored 49 in the final NZ vs IND ODI.
