Rohit Sharma:  I don’t have any words left. You got to expect something like this in a game like this. We wanted to stay in the game for as long as possible. Staying calm and taking the game deep was very critical.  We were in no position to win this. The way we won that’s more pleasing for us. Hats off to Virat for the way he batted, has to be the best innings he has played for India. I would like to thank everyone, it’s wonderful to see.

Player of the Match: It’s a surreal atmosphere, I have no words, no idea how that happened. I am really lost for words. Hardik believed we can do it, if we stayed till the end. The calculation was simple. Nawaz had one over to bowl, so if I could take Haris down, they would panic. From 28 in 8, it came down to 16 to 6. I tried to stick to my instincts. Till today Mohali was my best innings against Australia. Today I will count this one higher. Hardik kept pushing me. You guys (fans) kept backing me and I am grateful for your support.

Shaheen Afridi has conceded just 8 runs off his first two overs as India find themselves at 10-1 after 18 balls! 

15:46 PM IST- Pak get the first break through

KL Rahul chops the ball onto the stumps as the Indian team vice captain walks back to the hut! Virat Kohli is the next man in! 7-1 after 2 overs.

India are 5-0 at the end of the first over! Decent start for the Men in Blue. Shaheen Afridi too will be eager to come back and take a shot at the wickets of Rohit Sharma and Kl Rahul

The Indian duo are on the crease as Shaheen Afridi takes the new ball for Pakistan. He will bowl the first over with KL Rahul taking the strike.

8 runs of the last over sees Babar Azam’s men get to a par score after struggling in the first half of the innings.  They will be happy with the recover in the last few overs! 

15:21 PM IST- Bhuvi gets Afridi 

A smooth caught and bowled sends Shaheen Afridi back in the hut. Most importantly a dot ball in the last over. 

15:16 PM IST- 19th over trouble for India

While Masood got his 50 Shaheen Afridi smashes Arshdeep Singh for a massive six on the third ball of the over! He later follows it up with a four! 14 runs off the over. 

15:09 PM IST- Middle order trouble for Pak

Shan Masood is the only bright player who has kept on going for the Men in Green.  135-7 with 2 overs left!

15:03 PM IST- Arshdeep Singh Strikes

The Dangerous Asif Ali is back the hut as Dinesh Karthik takes an easy catch to claim Pakistan’s seventh wicket! India are on a roll here! 

14:58 PM IST- Pandya gets Nawaz!

The Indian all rounder has been quite crucial for the Men in Blue today! 116-6 after 16 overs. 

14:53 PM IST- 5 overs left!

Pakistan are 106-5 at the end of 15 overs Shan Masood36(31) and Mohammad Nawaz at the crease for them. They will aim to cross 160 runs and post a competitive total!  Masood survives as the delivery is called a deal ball after it hit the Spider Cam. It could well have been a wicket for India.

Hardik Pandya gets his first wicket as Suryakumar Yadav completes the catch in the deep to send back Shadab Khan! Later on, Haider Ali hits the ball in the air as Rohit Sharma gets hold of the ball! Half of the Pakistan Batters are dismissed! What an over for INDIA!

Third wicket for India as Iftikhar Ahmed walks back right after gets his half century!

14:33 PM IST- Pakistan look to go big!

Iftikhar Ahmed hits a massive six against Ashwin to bring up a 50-run stand! He continues to take the aggressive route and smashes Axar Patel as well!

Pakistan find themselves in a spot of bother having scored only 60 runs at the end of the halfway stages of the first innings.

Ashwin takes an excellent diving catch at fine leg off Shami’s bowling but the umpires go upstairs to see if the catch is taken cleanly!  The ball had bounced just before Ashwin got a hold off it! Pakistan are 44-2 after 8 overs.

The speedster has conceded just 10 runs off his first overs while claiming both the wickets so far! He will be crucial for India in the death overs.

India vs Pakistan Live Updates, ICC T20 World Cup 2022, Match 16, Ball To Ball Commentary, Match Details And More: The 16th game of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 will see Asian giants India and Pakistan lock horns at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The group 2 fixture is scheduled to be played at 23rd October 2022 and will kick off at 1:30 PM IST.

India will head into the game after defeating Australia in their previous outing. They were about to lock horns against New Zealand in a warm up before this clash but saw the game being called off due to heavy rain. Rohit Sharma’s side are heavy favourites to walk away with the trophy and lift the ICC T20 World Cup for the second time. Despite missing the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja, India will head into the game as favourites.

Pakistan, on the other hand, also their final warm up game against Afghanistan be abandoned due to heavy rains. Their previous clash saw the Men in Green suffer an 8 wicket loss to England. Babar Azam’s team can be the dark horses in the ICC T20 World Cup title race. After losing to Australia in the final last year, they will be eager to cross the final hurdle this time.
