Latest ICC Rankings Sees Suryakumar Yadav Edge Closer To No 1 Spot

India’s middle order batter Suryakumar Yadav has edged closer to becoming the best T20I batter in the world. The 31-year-old moves close to becoming the best batsmen as per the latest ICC Men’s Player Rankings. He impressed for the Men in Blue scoring a quick fire 46 off 25 balls in their recent loss to Australia at Mohali during the first T20I clash in the three-game series.

He is now very close to going on par with Pakistan star Mohammad Rizwan, who currently sits at the top of the T20I batter rankings. Yadav has jumped above Pakistan captain Babar Azam to slot in the third place with the right-hander finding himself just 45 rating points behind Rizwan.

Rizwan hit a half-century scoring a 46-ball 68 against England which helped him maintain his position at the top of the rankings. He gained 15 rating points to reach a career-best 825 rating points, 33 more than Aiden Markram. The South Africa star finds himself at 792 rating points and is the second best ranked batsman sandwiched between Rizwan and Yadav.

The Indian batter, on the other end, sits at 780 points. He is now just a striking distance away from being the top ranked batter ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup which starts in Australia in just a month. Pak skipper Babar Azam is ranked fourth on the latest rankings after a poor outing in the recently concluded Asia Cup. England’s Dawid Malan (725) and Australia’s Aaron Finch (715) round out the top six.

He also moves up to take fifth position in the all-rounders category, surpassing Australia’s Glenn Maxwell.

Moving onto the bowlers, India’s Axar Patel has moved up the list following his 3 for 17 taking him against Australia. He has moved from 57th rank to the 33rd position. Josh Hazlewood maintains his place as the No.1 ranked bowler with Tabraiz Shamsi slotting in at the second-place. England spinner Adil Rashid follows up as the third best ranked bowler and finds himself just behind the above-mentioned duo after claiming two wickets against Pakistan.
