Grzegorz Lato is a Polish international who played for Poland from 1971 to 1984. Lato scored 10 goals in the FIFA World Cup for Poland. His best scoring run came in the 1974 FIFA World Cup. Lato scored seven goals and led Poland to a third-place finish in the 1974 World Cup. Lato scored two goals in the 1978 FIFA World Cup and one goal in the 1982 World Cup but no other World Cup performance came close to replicating his form in the 1974 FIFA World Cup.

Thomas Muller is a very well-known player in the world of football. The German midfielder is known for his goal-scoring ability as well as being able to create space in the midfield. Muller has scored 10 FIFA World Cup goals for Germany, but the shocking fact is that he has not scored in the World Cup since the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Muller scored five goals in the 2010 FIFA World Cup and another five goals in the 2014 FIFA World Cup. This took his tally up to 10 World Cup Goals. However, Muller was unable to add to this tally in the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups.

Teofilo Cubillas is a Peruvian international who represented his national team from 1968 to 1982. He managed to score 10 goals in the FIFA World Cup. Five of these goals came in his first FIFA World Cup. These five goals in the 1970 World Cup helped Cubillas finish as the third-highest goal scorer in the 1970 World Cup. The Peruvians next participation was in the 1978 World Cup. He managed to score another five goals in the 1978 World Cup. While Cubillas played in the 1982 FIFA World Cup as well, he did not score any goals and ended his career with 10 World Cup goals scored.
Gabriel Batistuta represented Argentina from 1991 to 2002. The Argentine forward played in the 1994, 1998, and 2002 FIFA World Cups. In these three world cups, Batistuta managed to score a total of 10 goals.
Gary Lineker played in just 2 world cups for England. He participated in the 1986 and 1990 FIFA World Cups. Lineker scored six goals in the 1986 FIFA World Cup. While England went out in the Quarter-Final, his six goals meant that Gary Lineker finished as the top scorer of the 1986 FIFA World Cup. The Englishman followed this up with four goals in the 1990 World Cup and took his total tally to 10.

Helmut Rahn represented Germany in the 1954 and 1958 FIFA World Cup. The German forward played 10 matches for Germany across these two world cups and scored 10 goals. This meant that Helmut Rahn finished his World Cup career with a goal-per-game average of one goal per World Cup game.
Jurgen Klinsmann represented Germany from 1987 to 1998. The German international participated in three different world cups for Germany namely the 1990, 1994, and 1998 FIFA World Cup. The German scored 3 goals in the 1990 FIFA World Cup. His best performance, however, came in the 1994 World Cup. Klinsmann scored five goals for Germany. Only Hristo Stoichkov and Oleg Salenko scored more goals than Klinsmann in the 1994 World Cup. The German star added three more goals to his tally in the 1998 World Cup.

Sandor Kocsis was a Hungarian footballer who played in just one FIFA World Cup. Despite playing in just one World Cup in his career, the Hungarian striker has 11 World Cup goals. Hungary lost in the 1954 World Cup final to West Germany but Sandor Kocsis’ 11 goals in one World Cup will always be remembered. Kocsis played just five matches and scored 11 goals, ending his World Cup career with an outstanding goals-per-game average of 2.20.

Kylian Mbappe is just 25 years old and already has 12 World Cup goals. The French striker has played for his country in the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cup. Mbappe scored four goals in the 2018 World Cup which is very impressive given he was still a 19-year-old. To top this, Mbappe tripled his total tally from four to twelve in the 2022 World Cup. The French international managed to score eight goals in the 2022 World Cup, narrowly beating out Lionel Messi for the 2022 World Cup Golden Boot.

Pele played in four different FIFA World Cups for Brazil and ended up scoring 12 goals. He scored six goals in the 1958 FIFA World Cup. This is the most goals he has scored in one World Cup campaign. Pele scored one goal in each of the 1962 and the 1966 FIFA World Cups. The 1970 World Cup was his final World Cup campaign and he managed to score four goals, taking his total tally up to 12 World Cup goals.
Lionel Messi is one of the best football players in the world and it comes as no shock to see him so high on this list. Messi has played in five different World Cups for Argentina. The Argentine scored one goal in the 2006 World Cup to start his World Cup goals tally. He was unable to score in the 2010 World Cup but came back strong with four goals in the 2014 World Cup.
Another solitary goal in the 2018 World Cup saw Messi’s total tally reach six, but his best feat came in the 2022 World Cup. Messi scored seven goals in the 2022 World Cup and helped his country win the 2022 FIFA World Cup. These seven goals took Messi’s tally to 13 World Cup goals.
At the 1958 World Cup, France’s Just Fontaine set the record for most goals in a single tournament.

Just Fontaine scored 13 goals in the World Cup. The French international has only ever played one World Cup and ended up scoring 13 goals in it. Fontaine represented France in the 1958 FIFA World Cup. In six matches he managed to score 13 goals. This is still the record for the most goals scored in a single World Cup campaign. The runner-ups for the 1958 World Cup Golden Boot scored six goals each, meaning Fontaine ended the campaign with more goals scored than both the runner-ups combined.
Gerd Muller scored 14 World Cup goals in his career. Muller participated in the 1970 and the 1974 FIFA World Cup. Muller scored 10 goals in the 1970 World Cup. Despite West Germany finishing third in the tournament, Muller ended up as the top scorer of the 1970 World Cup. The German international added four more goals to his tally in the 1974 World Cup, taking his total count to 14.

Ronaldo Nazario is the second-highest goal scorer of all time in the FIFA World Cup. The Brazilian striker scored 15 goals in the World Cup. Ronaldo scored four goals in the 1998 World Cup but Brazil ended up losing in the final. In the 2022 World Cup, the Brazilian scored eight goals. This time it was enough to help Brazil win the 2002 FIFA World Cup. Ronaldo added three more goals to his tally in the 2006 World Cup. He finished his career with 15 goals scored in the World Cup.

Klose played a total of 24 matches in the World Cup and scored 16 goals. While the German star has scored 16 World Cup goals in total, he has never scored more than five goals in a single tournament. Klose scored five goals in the 2002 World Cup, five goals in the 2006 World Cup, four goals in the 2010 World Cup, and two goals in the 2014 World Cup. This took his total tally of World Cup goals scored to 16.
