The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has released the likes of Harry Brook, Matt Parkinson and Phil Salt from the ODI team. The decision comes just a few days before their final ODI clash against India on Sunday. The ECB has relieved the trio from national team duties so that they can play for their respective counties in the T20 Blast Finals.
The Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham is all set to host the T20 Blast matches on Saturday. Both the semifinals as well as the final are scheduled to be played on the same day. Many major stars are set to miss the games due to national duty with England playing their final match of the white ball series against India.
The ECB shared an official statement that stated how Brook, Salt and Parkinson will travel to Edgbaston and join their respective counties. However, the trio is said to return to Manchester for the third ODI and will be available for selection against India.
ECB’s statement read, “The trio will travel to Edgbaston today to join their respective counties before returning to the England squad ahead of the third Royal London International at Emirates Old Trafford on Sunday.”
The Rohit Sharma-led Indian team will lend their tour to England with the third ODI at Old Trafford on Sunday. The 3rd One Day International is scheduled to kick-start just 12 hours after the T20 Blast final. This has resulted in key players missing out on playing in the English domestic competition.

Six players in Jos Buttler and Liam Livingstone (Lancashire) alongside Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, and David Willey from Yorkshire and Somerset’s Craig Overton will not play on the Finals Day. Willey’s absence from the Yorkshire team will be a major blow to the side with the speedster being their T20 captain.
England levelled the three-match ODI series against India on Thursday. While India registered an emphatic victory in the first ODI, the Three Lions bounced back at the Lords Stadium in London. The Men in Blue won the first game with a 10-wicket margin while England recorded a win by 100 runs in the second game. Both the teams have will now clash off in the series decider at Old Trafford. Buttler and Co will be eager to win the last ODI, especially after losing the T2oI series earlier.
