Are Indian Players Not Worth 2 Crore In IPL 2023 Auction?

The upcoming IPL 2023 auction has seen over 991 players, which includes 714 Indian cricketers and 277 overseas players, register to be in the initial list of players who could go under the hammer. However, only a maximum of 87 players will be bought by teams as the squad strength cannot exceed more than 25 after the IPL 2023 auction, which is scheduled to take place in Kochi on 23rd December.

Are Indian Players not worth 2 Crore in IPL 2023 Auction?

The maximum base price for a player in IPL 2023 auction is ₹2 crore. This is the first time that no Indian player is listed in the highest reserve base ahead of the upcoming auction.  It comes as a major surprise that not a single Indian cricketer is present in the ₹2 crore band.

The likes of Kane Williamson, Nicholas Pooran, Sam Curran, Chris Lynn, Cameron Green, Ben Stokes and Rassie van der Dussen are a part of this category. Seasoned Indian cricketers like Manish Pandey, Kedar Jadhav, alongside Mayank Agarwal, find themselves with a base price of ₹1 crore. It is also worth noting that the likes of Jaydev Unadkat and Ajinkya Rahane have placed themselves in the ₹50 lakh bracket, while Ishant Sharma is in the 75 lakh category.
