Chhattisgarh EOW raided 29 locations in connection to the Mahadev Betting App Scam investigation

The Chhattisgarh Economic Offence Wing/Anti Corruption Bureau (EOW/ACB) have revealed that they conducted raids at 29 separate locations in connection to the Mahadev Betting App investigation. The investigation was launched in March this year. The EOW/ACB revealed in a statement that 18 sites in Durg district, seven in Raipur, two in Balodabazar, and one each in Raigarh and Kanker as part of the ongoing probe.

The authorities seized electronic devices, bank-related documents, Hawala slips, assets-related papers, and other suc documents which could be related to the Mahadev Betting App case.

28th April 2024: Mumbai Police arrest actor Sahil Khan in Mahadev App case

Actor Sahil Khan, who had been questioned by the Mumbai Police’s crime branch was declared absconding after a team from the Crime Branch visited Khan’s residence on Friday without any luck and he was declared missing. After multiple attempts to locate him, he was declared absconding. On 28th April, Sahil Khan was brought to Mumbai from Chhattisgarh and was arrested by the Mumbai crime branch’s SIT in connection to the Mahadev Betting App case. In response to this the actor said “I believe in the judiciary of the country”.

27th April 2024: Special Task Force arrested offenders operating 4,000 SIMs in Rs. 6,000 crore fraud

Two offenders were apprehended by the Special Task Force (STF). One of them seemed to be the mastermind behind the entire operation who also happens to be the cousin of a company’s India head. Both the accused were actively engaged in sending SIM cards from India to Dubai. They have been identified as Abhay Singh and Sanjeev Singh. They created fictitious companies to acquire corporate sim cards totalling over 4,000. 

15th April 2024: Former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Bhupesh Baghel identified as the main beneficiary in ₹5,500 Crore Mahadev Betting App case.

The former Chief Minister (CM) of Chhattisgarh and Congress Party’s Lok Sabha candidate from Rajnandgaon, Bhupesh Baghel, as been identified as the main beneficiary in the ₹5,500 Crore Mahadev Betting App case. This information comes from a First Incident Report (FIR) filed against 20 individuals last month by  the Raipur Economic Offences Wing (EOW).

Bollywood actor Sahil Khan has been summoned by the Mumbai Police to provide a statement regarding his involvement in the Mahadev Betting App case. He had also been summoned by Mumbai cyber cell’s Special Investigating Team (SIT) earlier an was set to appear before SIT in December for questioning but he failed to appear.

1st April 2024: Mahadev App remains active for Indian Premier League despite the Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigation

Despite an ongoing investigation into Mahadev App scam, they are still currently distributing IDs through websites, mobile apps, and social media channels. Bookies are reportedly distributing branches at rates of ₹25 Lakh each. The fee was ₹10 Lakh last year but it has jumped up to ₹25 Lakh. 

13th March 2024: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has frozen stock market shares worth ₹1,100 Crore after new discovery

ED’s investigation into Mahadev Online Book has revealed that multiple dummy accounts had been set up by the perpetrators. False bank entries were used to invest ₹1,100 Crore in the Indian stock market. ED has decided to freeze these shares till the investigation concludes. They have frozen market shares of around ₹1,100 Crore held in the demat accounts which are linked to the prime accused in the Mahadev app scam case.

12th March 2024: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is investigating the involvement of a German national in relation to the Mahadev Online Book

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has launched an investigation into a German national and his involvement with Mahadev Betting App. He is reportedly involved with the development and programming of the technical framework of Mahadev Betting App. The German has previously been involved in similar situations. He has helped organise online betting and gaming platforms in Mexico and various South American countries. The ED is currently investigating the transfer of money to the German national.

4th March 2024: Enforcement Directorate officials arrest Girish Talreja

A team of Enforcement Directorate officials arrested Girish Talreja on 4th March 2024. Girish Talreja is one of the owners of the Mahadev App. They were able to arrest him after receiving intel. Suraj Chokhani, who was working with Talreja, was also arrested in Kolkata. However, the apps co-owner Ratan Lal Jain in still on the run.

28th February 2024: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducts raids at over 15 locations all over India

The Enforcement Directorate conducted raids in Mumbai, Delhi, West Bengal, and other places after receiving information about some suspects linked to the case. This move by the ED comes over a month after they arrested Nitin Tibrewal and Amit Agrawal.

12th January 2024: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrests two individuals in the Mahadev App Scam

Nitin Tibrewal from Kolkata and Amit Agrawal from Raipur were arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on 12th January 2024. They are facing charges under various sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Both individuals were put before a special court in Raipur on 12th January and were remanded into ED custody until 17th January.

5th December 2023, 1:05 PM IST: Baghel-led Congress’s Downfall In Assembly Elections Because of Illegal Betting Scam

The counting for assembly polls in five states, including Chhattisgarh, took place today. BJP is currently leading with over 50 seats, enough to form a new government and oust the Congress. During the election campaign, Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel was embroiled in the Mahadev Book controversy, with the ED claiming he received Rs 508 crore from the illegal betting network’s operators.

13th November 2023, 11:30 AM IST: The Noida Police Have Booked 18 Individuals Under The Gangster Act

18 individuals linked to the illegal betting app Mahadev Book have been booked under the Gangster Act by the Noida Police. The accused were caught operating the app in a hideout in a posh society in Noida. The Mumbai police have also filed an FIR against the app’s promoters under IPC sections 420, 465, 467, 468, and 120B.

10th November 2023, 1:15 PM IST: ED Summons IPS Duo

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned two IPS officers, SSP Prashant Agrawal and Abhishek Pallav, under Section 50 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Pallav was questioned for at least two hours by ED, while Agrawal has been asked to appear today. The officers are being investigated in connection to the Mahadev Book illegal betting network case.
