The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released the latest standings of the World Test Championship (WTC) table after Sri Lanka registered a jaw dropping win against Australia on Monday. The islandic nation stunned the visitors in the second Test in Galle which had a major impact on their WTC rankings.
Sri Lanka recorded an innings win in the second Test match against Australia to level the series1-1. It was their fourth win in the ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 cycle while Australia tasted their first loss of the campaign. Following the win, the islandic nation made a massive jump and broke into the top three of the latest WTC standings.

The latest WTC standings sees South Africa lead the table with the Proteas’ boasting a win-loss percentage of 71.43. Australia, on the other hand, moved a spot down from second place after suffering their first loss in the 2-year WTC cycle. Pat Cummins’ side now boasts a win-loss percentage around 70%.
Sri Lanka, who replaced Australia as the 2nd ranked team on the rankings boast a solid chance of making it to the World Test Championship final next year. They have edged out teams in Pakistan, India and West Indies by moving up three places.

The islandic nation rode on impressive performances from Dinesh Chandimal and Prabath Jayasuriya to earn a 54.17 win-loss percentage on the WTC table so far. They will be eager to keep the momentum going when they host Pakistan in a two-match Test series. A solid outing against fellow sub continental team will see them cement their slot on the top end table.
Pakistan finds itself in the fourth position with arch rivals India right on their tail. West Indies follow the subcontinental teams with the Caribbean outfit registering four wins so far. England are slotted seventh in the WTC table recording five wins in 16 games, with New Zealand slotted below the Three Lions. Bangladesh are currently slotted at the bottom of the table, having won only 1 game in their 10 outings of the World Test Championship 2021-23 cycle.
