The Fantasy Sports industry is an up and coming one in India and many companies have been getting into this business in the last 8-12 months. One such Indian fantasy sports platform is 11Wickets, an initiative of Ability Games, which was launched just a couple of months back.
On the occasion of India’s 72nd Independence Day, 11Wickets hit the news after having signed Sunny Leone as its brand ambassador. The Canadian-born Indian-American has been a popular figure in India since a few years now and as a young girl, she was very athletic, playing street hockey with the boys.
Her sports enthusiasm has led her to owning a celebrity cricket team, co-owning a football team and her latest association with sports is with 11Wickets, a new online game software, which can be accessed on the app and website both. Here, cricket and football enthusiasts can express themselves with passion, optimism, strength and knowledge, through their fantasy team, while also being rewarded with cash prizes for doing well.
“We aim to make 11Wickets an iconic and ground-breaking brand, a champion of fantasy sports, and I am so happy that Sunny Leone is being part of this family now. There’s a cultural shift happening, which 11Wickets celebrates, where sports knowledge is recognized, and I’m so proud of getting Sunny as our product’s brand ambassador, as we know her childhood link with sports in particular hockey,” said Founder and CEO of 11Wickets, Navneet Makharia, whose other product PokerLion has been a success in the online gaming industry for the past six months.
Leone, born as Karenjit Kaur Vohra to Sikh parents, has been associated with online gaming brands in the past, including names like JeetWin, Teen Patti and online poker website, PokerBaazi. From now on, she will be promoting 11Wickets across all media platforms and the brand is expected to greatly benefit from this association.
“I’m really glad to be a part of 11wickets.com! I have been learning online cricket for a while now. 11wickets’s name is synonymous with online cricket in India – it was an immediate yes from my side. It’s amazing to see the growing passion for cricket and I would love to be a part of this journey,” said Leone after the association was confirmed.
