So, have you ever tried playing Points Rummy before? If yes, then you will understand the game play of Raise rummy very easily. Both games are really similar but with a slight difference. In Raise rummy the point’s value keeps increasing. So the main objective of a player is to score the highest since the points have a monetary value called the point value.

You start the game by assigning a pre-decided point value which keeps increasing at regular intervals. It can increase until it reaches a pre-decided value. The player on the table will be well aware of the current rupee and the next rupee’s value as well. For instance, the pre-set value of a point can be INR 0.10/-. And it could increase until it reaches INR 0.20/- as the game progresses. At the end of the game, the winner takes all.

How to play this game?

The game can be played with 2-6 players. You will need two decks of cards and two jokers precisely. In this game, a toss will decide who is going to make the first move. Once each player is dealt with 13 cards at random, they can start arranging them in valid sets and sequences like how it is done in the regular version of rummy. There will be two decks of cards on the table, open and closed deck. Open deck consists of the discards and will be visible to everyone. The closed deck is not visible and is used to pick cards.

Players must be able to meld cards to make at least one pure sequence out of the two that they are required to make. Like a normal game of rummy, the jokers here are of two types. A printed joker that comes with the deck and a wild joker that is picked at random at the start of the game. Once all the players have finished their turn, the value of the points will increase. While melding the cards into sets and sequences these jokers can be used. When a player successfully arranges all the 13 cards into proper valid sets and sequences thereby meeting all the requirements, they can use the extra card in hand to make their declaration.

Calculating the score …

The maximum points that a player can win in this game are 80 points (earned by the player who loses). The winner gets 0.

The winnings are calculated as:

Winnings = (Points of the opponent) X (Point Value at which the game was finished).
