What Happens If The WTC Final 2023 Ends In A Tie Or Draw: Will There Be A Reserve Day? On 7th June 2023, India and Australia will face each other at Kennington Oval Ground in London for the World Test Championship Final. Kennington Oval Ground has hosted over 100 matches, with more than 80 teams choosing to bat first.
The World Test Championship is similar to the World Cup in T20 and ODI formats, except that it spans over a two-year period. During this time, each of the nine participants plays a set number of home and away games. The top two teams then compete for the coveted trophy.
The India team has played on this ground for a test match around 14 times, with two wins, three losses, and seven draws. In their last game at The Oval in 2021, they won by 157 runs against England.
Meanwhile, Australia has played 34 matches at this venue, with seven wins, 17 losses, and 14 draws. Their last game at The Oval in 2019 resulted in a loss by 137 runs against England.
For the upcoming WTC 2023, a reserve day has been scheduled to account for potential harsh weather conditions such as rain, storms, thunder, and lightning. The weather forecast predicts mostly sunny weather from Day 1 (Wednesday) to Day 4 (Saturday), with some cloudiness on the latter day.

However, Day 5 (Sunday) may experience spotty afternoon showers, necessitating the use of Reserve Day, as it did in the 2021 final. It is worth noting that two years ago, the match’s opening day was lost due to rain, leading to the game extending into a sixth day.
If it rains too much or there are thunderstorms during the event and the teams will not be able to play all the games in five days, then the match that got affected will be pushed to the sixth day, i.e., the reserve day.
If the WTC final ends in a tie, both India and Australia will share the trophy.
