Indeed one of the finest production of BCCI, IPL is breaking every record. The league was started in 2009 to provide a platform to the young cricketers who struggled to make a place for themselves on the national side. The brand value of IPL has increased by 318 per cent since its 2009 launch, rising from about $2 Billion to over $8 Billion this year. The franchise league’s primary source of income is media rights, and according to reports, IPL’s media rights are 107.5 Crore per game. Thanks to this, IPL is the most prosperous league in the world.
BCCI banned Pakistan from playing IPL in 2012; in response, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) came up with its franchise league Pakistan Super League in 2015 to compete with the best leagues in the world. Fans across the globe appreciated the move from PCB and helped the board to make PSL a considerable success. PSL, since its launch, has been growing well. The PCB revealed that the PSL saw a 71 per cent increase in profit in the 2022 season, playing entirely in Pakistan. Before the season began, each franchise received ₹900 Million (US$3.9 Million) in revenue. That’s huge. PSL’s media right per game is 2.44 Crore per game, which helps the league compete with the other players.
