The Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) is a tournament held annually in the state of Tamil Nadu. Eight different teams representing different cities in Tamil Nadu participate in this tournament. This league was founded in 2016 and has taken place every year since apart from the year 2020.

The auction held in 2023 was the first time ever an auction took place in the history of TNPL. Before the TNPL 2023 season, players were selected by the teams through the draft process. The 2023 season changed all this, and a player auction was introduced. The TNPL 2024 season will also follow this process of conducting an auction for the players.

The 2024 Auction is set to be even bigger and better than the first auction held in 2023. The most expensive player in the 2023 Auction was Sai Sudharsan. He was bought by Lyca Kovai Kings for ₹21.6 Lakh. Sanjay Yadav also took home a good pay cheque as he was bought for ₹17.6 Lakh by four-time winners Chepauk Super Gillies.

Tamil Nadu Premier League has had four different winners in its seven editions. The TNPL winners list consists of Tuti Patriots, Chepauk Super Gillies, Siechem Madurai Panthers, and Lyca Kovai Kings. Chepauk Super Gillies are the most successful team having the Tamil Nadu Premier League four times.
