Suryakumar Yadav scored his third back-to-back half century against South Africa in the second T20I at Guwahati. He reached the feat in just 18 balls while ending his innings with a score of 61 off just 22 deliveries. Riding on his knock, the Men in Blue went on to register a 16-run victory and pocket a 2-0 lead and win the three-match T20I series.
Following the win against South Africa, India captain Rohit Sharma also praised Suryakumar Yadav’s innings. He hilariously shared how the 35-year-old wants to save Yadav and not play him anymore until India’s first game of the highly anticipated ICC T20 World Cup.
Sharma said, “Just thinking not to play him anymore; just play him on the 23rd (India plays their first game of the ICC T20 World Cup against Pakistan). He is somebody who wants to play the game, wants to keep going out there and keep doing well. That is what keeps him happy, and we want to keep him happy.”

Suryakumar Yadav also went on to become the third-fastest Indian to reach 1,000 runs in T20Is. He is also the fastest batter to score over 1000 runs in the shortest format of the game when it comes to the number of balls faced.
The 32-year-old batter edged past Glenn Maxwell’s record, who sat at the top of the table having scored his 1000th run in T20Is on his 604th delivery. Suryakumar Yadav, on the other end, scored his 1000th run in international cricket from just 574 balls.
