These Tie-Ups Between Domestic & International Football Clubs Made Headlines

Football in India has received a major boost all thanks to the Indian Super League (ISL). Since the introduction of the league, the football talent in the country now has a platform to grow. This growth is also due to the various European football clubs that have recognized the potential of the sport and are now investing in building its future. Here’s a list of the top ISL partnerships with European clubs.

 1. FC Goa and RB Leipzig

For the 2020-2021 Season, FC Goa partnered with the German giants RB Leipzig have joined hands for a three-season deal. The new partnership between FC Goa aka Gaurs and RB Leipzig is expected to run till 30 June 2023. There have been talks surrounding the partnership, so it was no surprise when the deal was finally announced. The two clubs announced that their partnership would also result in active football training camps for the young talent in the country.

2. Hyderabad FC and Borussia Dortmund

These Tie-Ups Between Domestic & International Football Clubs Made Headlines

Another notable tie-up in 2020 was the two-year partnership between the ISL club Hyderabad FC and the German club Borussia Dortmund. Similar to the association between FC Goa and RB Leipzig. They aim to focus on the development of young Indian players. The clubs also have the option to extend their contract till the year 2025.

 3. Mumbai City and City Football Group

These Tie-Ups Between Domestic & International Football Clubs Made Headlines

In 2019, City Football Group took ISL’s Mumbai City into their fold, acquiring a 65 per cent stake in the club. The deal had managed to grab eyeballs and Mumbai City became the eighth football club to come under the CFG umbrella. Through this association, Mumbai City was once again ready to make their presence felt in the football space of India.

 4. SC East Bengal and Leicester City

These Tie-Ups Between Domestic & International Football Clubs Made Headlines

SC East Bengal’s tie-up with Leicester City FC in 2004 was the talk of the town as it was one of the first prominent football clubs in India that signed a deal with a famous European club. The East Bengal club sent their players to England to take part in team competitions. While the two clubs signed a three -year deal, it was mutually terminated soon after Leicester City’s demotion from the top division.
