Sydney Thunder Registers LOWEST Score In T20 Cricket

Sydney Thunder registered the lowest score in the senior T20 cricket after they were bowled out for just 15 runs. Yes, you read it right, Sydney Thunder lost all wickets while scoring a mere 15 runs in their Big Bash League 2022-23 clash against Adelaide Strikers!

The hosts couldn’t believe what happened with the Sydney-based franchise losing 10 wickets within the powerplay. Thunder broke Turkey’s record, who were dismissed for 21 by the Czech Republic back in 2019, handing the Strikers a massive 124-run win. Five batsmen, which includes England international Alex Hales, were dismissed for ducks in this game.

It is also worth noting nine (yes, 9) batters from Thunder seemed clueless against the new ball and were dismissed by a catch behind the stumps. Wicketkeeper Harry Nielsen took five catches in the game, while Rilee Rossouw fell to a superb one-handed catch by Matthew Short at slip.

Thunder’s top-scorer was their No. 10 batter Brendan Doggett, who scored four runs as the team folded for the lowest score. The previous lowest total in the Big Bash League was scored in January 2015 when Melbourne Renegades collapsed for 57 against Melbourne Stars.

Henry Thornton and West Agar did the unthinkable and bowled sensational spells, with the former picking up five wickets from just 17 balls. Thornton ended up with figures of 2.5-1-3-5, while Agar took four wickets in 2 overs, conceding only six runs. Henry ended up winning the Player of the Match for his five-wicket haul in this game.
