Virat Kohli’s constant struggles has seen various former cricketers being vocal in sharing their perspective on how the batter can get back to his best. However, his latest groin injury has added fuel to the fire. The 33-year-old who already struggled for runs is now racing against time to be fit for the 2nd ODI against England.
Despite all the criticism surrounding Kohli, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly has backed the former India captain. He has shared how the Delhi-based batter will regain his form and get back to his very best very soon.
Speaking with ANI, the BCCI president shared that there is no denying Kohli’s quality and goes on to voice out support for the 33-year-old. The 50-year-old said, “Of course, look at the numbers he has got in international cricket that doesn’t happen without ability and quality.”
Ganguly added, “Yes, he has had a tough time and he knows that. He has been a great player himself. He himself knows by his own standards it has not been good and I see him coming back and doing well. But he has got to find his way and become successful, which he has been for the last 12-13 years or more and only Virat Kohli can do that.”

Kohli’s recent outings against England has not done any good to his reputation with the Indian batter failing to accumulate runs during their tour. He managed to score just 31 runs in 2 innings during the one-off Test. Moving onto the T20I matches, Kohli featured in the last 2 games and amassed just 12 runs in those two outings. The 33-year-old missed out from playing in the first ODI due to a groin injury for the second game yet to be confirmed.

Ganguly also shared his thoughts on the 33-year-old form and shared how every player goes through such a phase. The 50-year-old went on to add how he feel that Kohli will bounce back and play to his best capabilities soon.
The BCCI president said, “These things will happen in sport. It has happened to everybody. It has happened to Sachin, It has happened to Rahul, it has happened to me, it has happened to Kohli. It is going to happen to future players. That’s part and parcel of sport and I think as a sportsman you just need to listen, be aware of what it is and just go and play your game.”
