The Mumbai Indians skipper put up a baffled face and while answering the journalist. He shared that the topic should not be up for debate. Sharma said, “He (Kohli) has played so many matches and has been playing the game since so many years. He’s such a good batsman that he does not need reassurance. I had mentioned this previously too that form keeps flickering. It is a part and parcel of the game for every cricketer. Everyone faces a similar time during their careers.”
India’s all format captain also talked about Kohli’s inability to accumulate and get out of the poor patch of form. Rohit Sharma also shared how every cricketer faces a slump and that the 2011 World Cup winner need one or two innings to get at his lethal best.
The 35-year-old was quoted saying, “So for players who have played so many years, played so many matches, and scored numerous runs. They just need one or two innings to get back to form, that’s what I think. We know that this topic (Kohli’s form) is being discussed outside. But we need to understand that every player’s performance witnesses ups and downs, but the quality of the player remains the same. There’s no player who has been consistent in every match that he’s played. Everyone faces a slump.”
Sharma also went on to speak on the overall batting performance after India was bundled out for a mere 146. The visitors failed to get going in the second ODI with the Three Lions registering a massive 100 run win at Lords.

Rohit Sharma spoke on the importance of seeing the lower order bat well when the top fails to deliver. He went on to add how there’s room for improvement and that the Men in Blue can learn something from the opposition.
The Indian skipper was quoted saying, “It is also a challenge for us when we lose 5-6 wickets, we need to learn how to score runs lower down the order, we need to focus on this thing as to how to improve our balance and improve our batting, because whatever the situation of the game, if you back yourself, then you will get runs. We can learn from England how they batted after losing five wickets, they scored 250 runs. We can learn from them how to play.”
