Rohit Sharma Is All Set To Break Most Sixes Record In T20Is: Considered one of the best openers in white-ball cricket, Rohit Sharma is all set to break Martin Guptil’s record of 172 sixes in 121 T20Is. Sharma had played 133 international matches, where the right-handed batter smashed 164 sixes in T20s. Sharma had scored stunning 3499 runs, where the Indian veteran had smashed four international centuries and 27 half-centuries.

Rohit Sharma is only nine six away from breaking Guptil’s record. As India is playing Asia Cup in UAE, he is expected to break this record in the current contest. Sharma’s recent form has been disappointing, but we all know how dangerous he could be if he stayed on the crease for at least ten overs.

Recently Broke Shahid Afridi’s Record

Sharma had recently broken Shahid Afridi’s record and surpassed the Pakistani veteran by one-six. Yes, you heard it right! Afridi had smashed 476 sixes in his cricketing career, while Sharma smashed 477 sixes. He is just behind Chris Gayle’s record of 553 sixes in international cricket.  

India faced Pakistan in the second game of Asia Cup 2022, where India defeated Pakistan by five wickets. Sharma’s performance in that game was disappointing as the right-handed batter just scored 12 runs in 18 balls. 

Most Runs In T20 Internationals

Thanks to Rohit Sharma’s 12 runs inning against Pakistan, Sharma broke Martin Guptil’s records for most runs in T20 International as well. Sharma pushed Guptil to the number two position on the ICC rankings. Guptil recently broke Virat Kohli’s record of 3343 runs in T20 International. The New Zealand veteran had played 121 games so far, where he had smashed 3497 runs with two centuries and 20 half-centuries into his account.

Not only in terms of sixes, but Sharma had smashed the most centuries in T20 International cricket. In 133 matches, he has scored 27 half-centuries in addition to 4 centuries, while he has also hit 313 boundaries and 164 sixes in these matches. Rohit Sharma’s average in these matches has been 32.10, while his strike rate has been 139.73.

What India Should Do Ahead In Asia Cup 2022

Sharma’s recent form in white-ball cricket had not been up to the mark, but his contribution to the team is immense. His captaincy skills and ability to back players were key in defeating Pakistan. Sharma must perform well in Asia Cup 2022, as India needs to put a good start in powerplays to dominate the remaining 14 overs.
