Rohit Sharma rejoined to the Indian team after the testing positive for COVID-19 and led the Men in Blue to victory in the first T20I against England. The visitors recorded a massive win by the margin of 50 runs at the Rose Bowl in Southampton. The win saw Sharma now boast the record of winning 13 T20I matches in a row.

Sharma began to take charge of the Indian team on a full-time basis in the shortest format of the game after Virat Kohli stepped down following a dismissal campaign during the 2021 T20 World Cup. However, Sharma had already won 3 matches on the trot when he captained India in Kohli’s absence.
The Mumbai based opener has now added 10 consecutive T20Is wins after taking over as India’s all format captain to record 13 back-to-back wins in T20Is. He broke the record of successive most wins, which was previously held by Asghar Afghan, with the Afghanistan star recording 12 wins on the trot.

The 35-year-old helped India record a whitewash series win in T20Is against the likes of Sri Lanka and the West Indies. His 13 back-to-back wins record also includes a 5-0 thrashing that the Men in Blue recorded against the Kiwis in 2019.
Rohit Sharma has an impeccable record as captain of the Indian cricket team winning 25 games out of the 29 matches. The Indian team management will be banking on the Mumbaikar to keep the momentum going as they prepare for the highly anticipated T20 World Cup. The ICC event is all set to be played in Australia, later this year.
The 35-year-old scored 24 off just 14 balls in the previous outing against England. He and Ishan Kishan set the tone for fellow Indian batters to follow as the Men in Blue went on to put up a strong score 198 on the board at Southampton. During his previous outing against the Three Lions, Sharma ended up becoming the third Indian to score over 1,000s T20I as captain.
