Ranbir Kapoor CONFIRMS Playing Sourav Ganguly In Latter’s Biopic

Sourav Ganguly had earlier given the green light for a biopic to be made on his journey. While months of speculation questioned which actor will play the role of the former Indian skipper, it is now confirmed that Ranbir Kapoor will feature as Sourav Ganguly in the cricketer’s biopic.

Before the confirmation, speculations ran for well over a month, with rumoured suggesting that Ranbir Kapoor was heavily in contention to play the role. Those reports have seemingly come true, with sources close to the film fraternity claiming that both parties have gotten the green light.

As per various reports, Sourav Ganguly has also given the nod to the script of the movie. However, that piece of news has was confirmed yet. The shooting of the Sourav Ganguly biopic is also expected to begin soon. Meanwhile, we await to hear news on the potential release date of this highly awaited movie which is based on the former president of BCCI.

It would be the fourth movie made on a cricketer’s life story, with various movies like Sachin Tendulkar, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Mohammad Azharuddin already being released over the last few years. According to reports, the Ranbir Kapoor starring movie is expected to be a big-budget film. Many rumours reveal that the Sourav Ganguly biopic budget will be between ₹200 Crore to ₹ 250 Crore.

Ranbir will head into the film after having some experience playing a particular role with the A-lister, having featured in the biography of fellow Indian actor Sanjay Dutt. The 40-year-old gained a lot of appreciation for his role in Sanju, which also starred Vicky Kaushal and Anushka Sharma.
