Rahul Tewatia has taken to social media and expressed his disappointment after missing out on breaking into the national side for the upcoming tour against Ireland. The Gujarat Titans star has not been selected to be a part of the Indian team following the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) squad announcement on Wednesday.
BCCI announced the list of players selected for the upcoming 2-match T20I series against Ireland on Twitter. With a lot of seasonal Indian stars set to be in England for the 6th Test match, the selected team saw a lot fresh facing getting an opportunity.
Rahul Tripathi received his maiden national team call-up for the matches against Ireland with Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson making a comeback in the national team. Suryakumar Yadav is called up to with the middle order batter set to make his return from injury. The likes of Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh have also been given an extended run following their inclusion in the ongoing T20I series against South Africa with Venkatesh Iyer and Deepak Hooda also cementing a berth for themselves for the Ireland tour.

Tewatia was hopeful of receiving a national team call up following his exploits in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL). The Gujarat Titans’ star played a key role in helping his team win the IPL in their first season. He was a vital part of Hardik Pandya’s side and came up with some solid performances in the middle order in the recently concluded tournament.
However, Tewatia seems to have failed in impressing the selectors despite being one of the most consistent performers. The Indian team selectors have opted to go with Samson with the RR skipper likely to get opportunities to bat in the middle order for India.
With Rahul Dravid set to be with Virat Kohli and Co in England, VVS Laxman is set to take charge of the team for the T20I matches. It should also be noted that the skipper Tewatia’s IPL 2022 skipper Pandya is all set to captain the national team for the upcoming two matches against Ireland.
