Former India National Cricket Team fielding coach R Sridhar has named three pacers he feels will play for the Men in Blue in the upcoming T20 World Cup. The ICC mega event will be played in Australia and is all set to be played between October and November this year.
India had a disastrous outing in the previous edition of the tournament with the Virat Kohli-led side failing to make it past the group stages at the World Cup 2021 in the UAE. Poor performances by the speedsters were deemed to be a key point of failure for the Men in Blue in the previous ICC T20 World Cup.
The matter was highlighted in India’s match against arch-rivals Pakistan as the Men in Green went on to record a comfortable win over their subcontinental rivals. The Indian bowlers had failed to pick up a single wicket in that high-profile game last year.
Since then, India has gone on to create a wide pool of fast bowlers in the shortest format of the game. The think tank has a plethora of options at their disposal with the Men in Blue playing 11 different pacers since the 2021 World Cup. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been the pick of the lot pocketing 23 wickets in 18 games with Harshal Patel coming up with the second-best numbers registering 23 wickets in 16 innings.
R Sridhar went on to share his picks and name India’s possible fast bowling line-up for the ICC World Cup. Speaking to Cricket.com on the former India National Cricket Team fielding coach named Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami as his three pacers.
the 52-year-old said, “I think we have problem of plenty, isn’t it? Look I’m going to be straight and I’m cutting to the chase. I think our top three fast bowlers would be Bumrah, Shami and Bhuvi.” Explaining his picks, R Sridhar shared, “Because, if you have this, you have an absolute banker, banker, banker new-ball bowler and death-over bowler in Bhuvi who is in the best shape in terms of his fitness.”

He went on to add, “And we have Shami, who will come up with the new ball and ask a lot of questions to the best opening batters in the world. So you can bowl Bhuvi and Shami twice and now that Hardik is bowling and Jadeja is an all-rounder, we have the fifth and sixth bowler covered. “
R Sridhar concluded with, “When it is the World Cups you need the big boys to go in and play and these are the three as far as fast bowling in concerned and backed by another big boy in Hardik.”
