Breaking: Mo Bobat Is The New Director Of Cricket For RCB IPL 2024: England Cricket Board’s Performance Director, Mo Bobat, has been appointed Director of Cricket for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in preparation for IPL 2024. Bobat has been a part of the ECB for the past 12 years, and since 2019, he has held the role of performance director. His contributions have been instrumental in shaping England’s innovative approach, resulting in their victorious campaigns in both white-ball World Cups.
Bobat and the newly-appointed head coach, Andy Flower, have a history of collaborating with the England cricket setup. Bobat has been responsible for identifying, nurturing, and preparing a diverse group of players for England, spanning various game formats.
In his new role with RCB, Bobat will oversee talent recruitment and performance strategies while striving to establish a strong foundation for sustained success, both culturally and in terms of high performance.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Bobat said, “I’m thrilled and honoured to take on the role of Director of Cricket at RCB. RCB is a globally recognized franchise with a passionate fan base, and it’s a privilege to serve them. I’d like to acknowledge the contributions of Mike Hesson and Sanjay Bangar, who provided stability and consistency in recent years.”

Bobat also highlighted his eagerness to collaborate with Andy Flower, with whom he shares a history, to bring success to RCB. Under the previous coaching team led by Director of Cricket Mike Hesson and batting coach Sanjay Bangar, RCB reached the playoffs in 2021 and 2022 but faced disappointment in 2023. Meanwhile, Andy Flower has been coaching the Lucknow Super Giants since its introduction in 2022.
