The English cricket board has appointed Jos Buttler as the new captain of the men’s white-ball team. The news comes after former captain Eoin Morgan decided to hang up his boots and retire from international cricket. He has been a deputy for Morgan since 2015.

Buttler’s most recent outing as a captain came in the recently concluded ODI series against the Netherlands. Buttler’s first task as full time captain of the Three lions will be a three match T20I and One Day International series against India. England is set to take on the Men in Blue in 3 T20I’s from 7th July onwards which will be followed by 3 ODIs. Later on, the Three Lions are scheduled to play the Proteas’ straight away with South Africa touring England for white ball games in the month of July.
Buttler shared that it was a ‘great honour’ for him to get the opportunity to captain England. He shared how glad he is to take over the captaincy from Morgan while speaking about the learnings. He said, “It has been the most memorable period for everyone involved. He has been an inspirational leader, and it has been fantastic to play under him. There are lots of things that I have learnt from him that I’ll take into this role.”
