Sheldon Jackson is one of the most well-known names in the Indian domestic circuit. He has been a mainstay for Saurashtra over the last few years and was also a key figure in their Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022 title triumph. The wicketkeeper batter managed to score a fantastic hundred under pressure to help his side with the trophy after nearly a decade.
The 36-year-old has a history of scoring a ton of runs in Indian domestic cricket, with the middle-order showing quality in List A matches. He also is a solid option behind the stumps, apart from being a technically correct batsman. Despite featuring for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the previous edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), he was released by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2023 auction.
He is all set to join the likes of Vasuki Koushik, Ankit Bawne, Samarth Vyas and Chirag Jani and see his name go under the hammer at the highly anticipated mini-auction. It will take place in Kochi on 23rd December and could be the last dance for Sheldon Jackson to feature in India’s premier cricket competition.

Sheldon Jackson has been a part of two IPL sides, plying his trade with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the Kolkata Knight Riders. Despite being in the RCB squad, he did not get any opportunities, with the wicketkeeper’s only IPL appearances coming for the Knight Riders. He has only participated in nine games scoring 61 runs at a strike rate of 107. However, Jackson did well in the 2022 editions of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy, which could see him earn an IPL contract once again in December.
KKR made several investments in Saurashtra lad earlier, but failed to give him an extended run of chances. With the franchise looking for a player who can do well behind the stumps and also bat in the middle order, it would not come as a surprise if the two-time IPL champions look to resign Sheldon Jackson.
Delhi Capitals (DC) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are also looking for a suitable backup Indian wicket-keeping option. As a result, the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022 winner could make an appearance in IPL 2023, with a few teams seeking a reliable wicketkeeper-batter at the IPL 2023 auction.
