IPL 2023 Auction: 3 Players Delhi Capitals Could Bid For

Delhi Capitals (DC) finished in fifth place during the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), with the franchise failing to make it to the playoffs despite boasting one of the strongest teams on paper. They will be eager to make amends and hope for a better result in the upcoming season. DC has already made a few changes to their team before the IPL 2023 auction, with the team looking to bounce back and win the title for the first time.

The Delhi-based franchise has already made a few changes in their squad, with the team trading off Shardul Thakur while releasing the likes of Ashwin Hebbar and Tim Seifert alongside Mandeep Singh and Srikar Bharat. With a purse of Rs. 19.45 crore ahead of the IPL 2023 auction, DC have a decent war chest to fill the gaps in the team and go all the way in the 2023 edition of the competition.

Cameron Green

While Delhi Capitals have a top order full of big-match players, the team has some issues in their lower middle order. Despite Axar Patel rising up to the occasion, the all-rounder’s performance was not enough. The Ricky Ponting-coached side is expected to make a move for Cameron Green in the upcoming IPL 2023 auction.

The Australian star is the perfect solution to Delhi’s lower-middle-order problems. He boasts the ability to hit bowlers around the ground while also providing a solid option who can deliver with the ball as well. Green would also look to join the Ricky Ponting coached team after the former Aussie skipper praised the all-rounder and passed statements expressing interest in signing his fellow countrymen.

Mayank Markande

The spinner fared well for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2022 before being released by the franchise. Mayank Markande has a fantastic record in the IPL and will soon undergo the hammer at the IPL 2023 auction. Delhi Capitals will look to acquire his services and have him be a quality backup to the likes of Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel.

With the IPL going to be played across different venues, Delhi needs to stack up its spin bowling department with good-quality backup options. Having someone like Mayank Markande in the team will help Rishabh Pant fill up the gaps left in the team and ensure that they make it to the playoffs this time around.

With Tim Seifert and Srikar Bharat being released by DC ahead of the IPL 2023 auction, the Delhi-based franchise will be eager to look to rope in a backup wicketkeeper to Rishabh Pant. Joshua Phillipe, who featured for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2020, failed to get going, having managed only 78 runs in 5 games.
